Gas Turbine Efficiency’s Innovative Technology Reduces Emissions for Energy Industry

May 5, 2010

Combined Water Injection and Power Augmentation System Lowers Client’s NOx Emissions while Increasing Power Output

ORLANDO, Florida — Gas Turbine Efficiency plc (AIM: GTE), a leader in energy and aviation products and services, is using its extensive experience in water injection and power augmentation to assist Energy Industry clients with tighter regulatory requirements in NOx emission limits.

Connectiv Power Augmentation

You can download GTE's Connectiv case study at http://www.gtefficiency.com

A recent case study from GTE shows how one of its power generation customers successfully installed a single skid that incorporated both the water injection and power augmentation systems on their two GE MS50001Ps and three P&W FT4A engines. The combined system is capable of interfacing with virtually any control system and gas turbine fuel system. With this enhancement, the energy producer would provide cleaner and lower level emissions while increasing output and optimizing performance.

“This product is a great example of GTE’s growing portfolio of high value, practical and contemporary solutions for Power Generation,” says Steven Zwolinski, Chief Executive Officer at GTE. “At GTE we continually assess the rapidly evolving landscape of factors that drive customer needs – economic, environmental, dispatch and efficiency.”

The attached published data has quantified the benefits of installing the universal system and reports a reduction in NOx emissions that not only met the regulatory requirements, but was lower than the emission limit set forth. In addition, there was a five to eight percent adjustable increase in power output.

From an environmental standpoint, by installing the universal system, a power plant has the potential to reduce NOx emissions to meet or exceed regulatory changes in emission limits with the added benefit of increasing their power output and optimizing their engine’s performance.

Gas Turbine Efficiency Compressor Wash Systems Increase Power Generation Output

January 11, 2010

GTE’s innovative clean technology recovered 2 megawatts of lost performance in client’s power plant

ORLANDO, Florida — Gas Turbine Efficiency plc (AIM: GTE), a leader in energy and aviation products and services, is using its cleantech water wash systems to keep Energy Industry clients’ gas turbines in optimal operating condition, helping these power generation companies increase their energy output, reduce emissions and improve heat rate.

A recent case study from GTE shows how one of the largest energy retailers in North America successfully installed an online compressor wash system on two GE MS7001EA gas turbines at their Texas plant. With this enhancement, the energy producer increased output and can avoid unscheduled downtime to clean the compressor that would otherwise be required to bring the gas turbine back to its output potential.

“Internal and external contaminants can cause gas turbine’s compressor blades and vanes to foul, which in turn can lead to surging, blade corrosion,  and significant efficiency loss,” said Robert Burke, Manager Applications Engineer at GTE. “By installing GTE’s compressor wash system, our client recovered lost productivity and effectively paid for the system in the first 3.2 months of operation.

The attached published data has quantified the benefits of installing the GTE water wash system and reports recovering lost power of up to two Megawatts in this power generator a sizeable improvement when compared to its gas turbine operation before installing the system. From an environmental perspective, this installation also recorded a NOx reduction of 1958.4 lbs per year and 1468.8 lbs per MW-Hr of CO.

By installing a GTE online compressor wash system, a power plant has the potential to extend the time between offline washes through the peak season with much less performance loss—a solution that offers gas turbine operators cost savings without compromising efficiency.

Gas Turbine Efficiency Expands Products and Services to Serve the GE Frame 7EA Turbine Operating Community

November 2, 2009

GTE announces the availability of new and existing products for the GE Frame 7EA gas turbine user community in the Energy Industry

(ORLANDO, FL) — Gas Turbine Efficiency plc (AIM: GTE), a leader in energy and aviation products and services, is announcing the expansion of its products and services lineup to meet the needs of the GE Frame 7EA users community, offering significant operational benefits and return for operators who have invested in this widely-used gas turbine.

GTE serves power plant operators by delivering proven solutions for maintenance and optimization in gas-only and dual-fuel gas turbine systems. The expanded products and services include new hardware and consumables for 7EA users worldwide.

GTE 7EA Introduces Products and Services

GTE announces the availability of new and existing products for the GE Frame 7EA gas turbine user community in the Energy Industry.

“We are committed to support our Energy Services clients in maintaining operational excellence for their investment,” says Steven Zwolinski, Chief Executive Officer at GTE. “Following on this commitment, GTE offers a number of options to help 7EA operators achieve their performance goals using products and services designed to keep their gas turbines in optimal operating condition.”

There are currently over 850 GE Frame 7EA gas turbines in use worldwide and their operators’ need to meet operational and maintenance goals can be best served by GTE’s products and services—including its:

* DLN-1 combustion system repairs and spares

* Turbine Optimization

* Compressor Water Wash Systems

* Turbine Outage Services, the company’s most recent addition to the lineup

In the last two years GTE has developed DLN-1 repair processes and applied the processes to return combustion systems to original performance. Based on the success of this work and customer demand, GTE has now developed replacement DLN-1 combustion components for the 7EA.   The equipment is currently available for application and will be reviewed with the 7EA User Community at the User Group meeting in Miami, FL. DLN-1 combustion components are also now available for the 6B and 9E users as well.

In addition to the repair and new equipment manufacturing for DLN-1 combustion systems, GTE has recently introduced its ECOMAX™ system to provide fully automated continuous tuning to enhance emission compliance, extend service life and optimize plant performance.

The benefit of using GTE’s family of services and products for 7EA increases when users combine them in their maintenance efforts,” says Thomas Wagner, Chief Technology Officer at GTE. “Our experience in the Energy market allows our business groups to optimize their performance output or upgrade the installation for DLN, ECOMAX™ or Water Wash Product lines.”

GTE recognizes that the Energy Industry will be increasingly shaped by the combination of rapidly escalating fuel costs, fuel source variation, environmental regulations, and energy demand. This combination creates challenges for the large global installed base of assets as they must adapt to alternate fuels, cyclic operation, and tougher emissions targets—all with a potentially significant impact on their financial commitment to operating 7EA gas turbines.

GTE will be exhibiting and hosting the reception dinner in the Cove Ballroom at the 7EA User Group Meeting on November 4-7, 2009 in Miami, FL.

GTE will also exhibit at Power Gen International 2009, the world’s largest Energy Industry convention in on December 8-10, 2009 in Las Vegas, NV.

A full description of GTE’s products and services, including case studies, can be found at www.gtefficiency.com.
