Gas Turbine Efficiency’s Multi-Stage Compressor Cleaning System Featured in Malaysian Energy Industry Conference

October 13, 2010

GTE’s compressor cleaning system performance data presented at the 6th User Group Conference for Siemens V94.3A/V84.3A gas turbines

(ORLANDO, FL) — Gas Turbine Efficiency plc (AIM: GTE), a leader in energy and aviation products and services, recently presented at the 6th V94.3A/V84.3A user group conference in Melaka, Malaysia, where Robert Burke, Manager of Applications Engineering for GTE, presented recently validated data from GTE’s compressor cleaning model system.

GTE’s automatic online wash cleaning system has been designed to provide gas turbine operators the advantage of incorporating its patented water wash technology, which is seamlessly integrated into the control system as an optimal solution for operational flexibility. In 2008, GTE commissioned a rigorous Research and Development program to eliminate excessive compressor fouling on three combined cycle SGT6-5000F (W501F) engines. Based on the results of the R&D efforts, GTE designed a patent-pending, fully automated, multi-stage nozzle cleaning system for online and offline compressor wash systems with the aim of reducing engine power degradation and increasing engine efficiency.

“The GTE water wash system is valuable because it is an easy to use, low maintenance cleaning system,” said Burke. “Thanks to its implementation, the unit can maintain the power output, reduce fuel and parts costs, and provide added operational flexibility.”

Burke presented evidence supporting how GTE’s unit can cut the engine degradation in half in comparison to the OEM water wash system, while demonstrating an average percent power benefit of 1.18% and motivating an average increase in engine efficiency of 0.42%. GTE offers similar systems for most industrial gas turbines, utilizing its proprietary technology to create cost-effective solutions to a common need for power plant operators in the Energy Industry.

Gas Turbine Efficiency’s Innovative Technology Reduces Emissions for Energy Industry

May 5, 2010

Combined Water Injection and Power Augmentation System Lowers Client’s NOx Emissions while Increasing Power Output

ORLANDO, Florida — Gas Turbine Efficiency plc (AIM: GTE), a leader in energy and aviation products and services, is using its extensive experience in water injection and power augmentation to assist Energy Industry clients with tighter regulatory requirements in NOx emission limits.

Connectiv Power Augmentation

You can download GTE's Connectiv case study at http://www.gtefficiency.com

A recent case study from GTE shows how one of its power generation customers successfully installed a single skid that incorporated both the water injection and power augmentation systems on their two GE MS50001Ps and three P&W FT4A engines. The combined system is capable of interfacing with virtually any control system and gas turbine fuel system. With this enhancement, the energy producer would provide cleaner and lower level emissions while increasing output and optimizing performance.

“This product is a great example of GTE’s growing portfolio of high value, practical and contemporary solutions for Power Generation,” says Steven Zwolinski, Chief Executive Officer at GTE. “At GTE we continually assess the rapidly evolving landscape of factors that drive customer needs – economic, environmental, dispatch and efficiency.”

The attached published data has quantified the benefits of installing the universal system and reports a reduction in NOx emissions that not only met the regulatory requirements, but was lower than the emission limit set forth. In addition, there was a five to eight percent adjustable increase in power output.

From an environmental standpoint, by installing the universal system, a power plant has the potential to reduce NOx emissions to meet or exceed regulatory changes in emission limits with the added benefit of increasing their power output and optimizing their engine’s performance.
