Gas Turbine Efficiency to Present its Products, Technical Information at CTOTF Spring 2010

April 19, 2010

GTE will be attending the conference and exhibition to showcase Energy Industry solutions to turbine owners and operators

ORLANDO, Florida — Gas Turbine Efficiency plc (AIM: GTE), a leader in energy and aviation products and services, will be attending the Combustion Turbine Operations Task Force (CTOTF) to present its entire array of power generation products to gas turbine owners and technical staff—including its ECOMAX™ DLN and DLE automated tuning system.

GTE plans to showcase its complete portfolio of products and services, including ECOMAX, turbine services, combustion repair, fuel conditioning, and compressor wash products at the CTOTF conference, interacting with members to improve the reliability and financial viability of gas turbines in use by turbine operators worldwide.

CTOTF is a professional group of combustion gas turbine owners and operators who conduct two Turbine Forum Meetings per year—spring and fall— to exchange technical, operations and maintenance information with gas turbine operators and power generation industry suppliers.

The conference is celebrating its 35th anniversary as an industry staple that draws the attention of technical and management staff from other gas turbine professionals in the Energy Industry, including power plant owners and suppliers.

GTE’s ECOMAX product line is of particular interest to CTOTF members as it offers a fully automated solution for optimizing gas turbine combustion system performance in near real-time. As an automated tuning system, ECOMAX can increase power potential and maintain operational flexibility while remaining compliant in emissions regulations.

GTE is a Super Champion for the CTOTF program—a honor given to OEMs, vendors and suppliers who have demonstrated their commitment to ensuring that the program grows and continues to provide value to members and Energy Industry combustion gas turbine operators.

The CTOTF Spring conference will be held at the Amelia Inn & Conference Center at Amelia Island Plantation, a destination resort island north of Jacksonville, FL, on April 25-29, 2010. For more information on this conference, visit http://www.ctotf.org.

GTE will be exhibiting at CTOTF in booth numbers 18-19 where visitors can receive a special invitation to a technical webinar on ECOMAX DLN and DLE automated tuning.

Gas Turbine Efficiency Announces New Agreement with Entegra Power Group Subsidiaries

March 18, 2010

ORLANDO, Florida — Gas Turbine Efficiency plc (AIM: GTE), a leader in energy and aviation products and services, has executed master services agreements with Tampa-based Entegra Power Group to provide gas and steam turbine major outage field services for their 4,400MW fleet consisting of 7FA combined cycle units.

GTE’s three-year agreement with Entegra includes providing Major Gas and Steam Turbine and Generator Mechanical maintenance outage and inspection services through the company’s Turbine Services Business Unit, which is spearheaded by John Duff—an executive with more than three decades of experience in the power generation industry.

“The three-year agreement ensures Entegra has access to GTE’s proven teams for their scheduled maintenance,” said John Duff, President of the Turbine Services Business Unit.

“This agreement further strengthens our position as a leading solutions provider for major end users in the power generation industry,” said Steven Zwolinski, Chief Executive Officer at GTE. “Strategically, the turbine services platform provides an important dimension to GTE’s growing portfolio of patented environmental and performance solutions.”

Both companies have a strong business relationship following GTE’s recent implementation of turbine upgrades including the installation of a combustion dynamics monitoring system (CDMS) to help control emissions, manage dynamics and provide increased output for Entegra Power Group’s Gila River Power Station in Gila Bend, AZ—a project that was recently profiled by Combined Cycle Magazine.

Pratt & Whitney and Saudi Arabian Airlines Expand EcoPower Engine Wash Service Network to Middle East and North Africa

November 20, 2009

DUBAI AIR SHOW, Dubai—Pratt & Whitney and Saudi Arabian Airlines signed an agreement expanding Pratt & Whitney’s EcoPower® engine wash service network to The Middle East / North Africa. The agreement provides for Saudi Arabian Airlines to wash its own engines and provide engine wash services to other commercial airlines that fly within the Kingdom. Pratt & Whitney is a United Technologies Corp. (NYSE:UTX) company.

Gas Turbine Efficiency plc (AIM: GTE) has granted Pratt & Whitney exclusive rights to its water wash technology in the field of aero engines. GTE has worked with the company to develop a closed loop engine wash system that can wash aircraft engines while an airplane is parked overnight.

Under its agreement with Pratt & Whitney, Saudi Arabian Airlines will operate two EcoPower service center locations in Jeddah and Riyadh with options to expand to other locations throughout the Kingdom. Saudi Arabian Airlines will have capability to wash all engine types within their fleet and nearly any commercial aero engine in service today, including JT9D, PW4000, PW2000, GE90, Trent700, CF6, V2500, CFM56 and CF34 engines.

“Increasing fuel efficiency and decreasing CO2 emissions are top priorities for Saudi Arabian Airlines,” said His Excellency the Director General Khalid Abdullah Almolhem.

“Operating as an authorized EcoPower service center, we can now promote these benefits to all operators who fly within the Kingdom,” said Ali Abdullah Milaat, managing director, Technical Services Strategic Business Unit for Saudi Arabian Airlines.

“We are pleased to expand the availability of EcoPower engine wash services through this partnership with Saudi Arabian Airlines,” said Todd Kallman, president, Commercial Engines & Global Services, Pratt & Whitney. “We hope to see continued expansion into the Middle East/North Africa region.”

Saudi Arabian Airlines, based in Jeddah, is the national airline of Saudi Arabia. It operates domestic and international scheduled flights to over 70 destinations in the Middle East, Africa, Asia, Europe and North America.

Pratt & Whitney’s exclusive EcoPower engine wash system reduces fuel burn by as much as 1.2 percent, eliminating approximately three pounds of carbon dioxide emissions for every pound of fuel saved, while also decreasing engine gas temperature thus increasing the amount of time an engine can stay on wing. The EcoPower system, offered through the Pratt & Whitney Global Service Partners network, uses a closed-loop system with pure, atomized water to wash aircraft engines, avoiding potential contaminant runoff. The system is more effective and much faster than traditional engine washing processes.

Pratt & Whitney is a world leader in the design, manufacture and service of aircraft engines, space propulsion systems and industrial gas turbines.  United Technologies, based in Hartford, Conn., is a diversified company providing high technology products and services to the global aerospace and commercial building industries.

CFM56 is a trademark of CFM International.
