Gas Turbine Efficiency Experiences Improving Energy Aftermarket and Strengthening Demand For Core Products

March 24, 2010

Gas Turbine Efficiency plc (AIM: GTE), a leader in energy and aviation products and services, is reporting an increase in expected revenue for the first quarter of 2010, an improvement supported by several operating units. GTE revenue for Q1 2010 is expected to be in the range of $9.5-10.0M—up 20-25% over a strong Q1 2009 ($7.4M). This performance is supported by order increases in the company’s Energy Services and Aviation products.

Performance improvements have recently been validated and published by leading customers, demonstrating a return on their investment in as little as four months. Compressor water wash systems are a major product line in the GTE portfolio of patented solutions for both power generation and aviation turbines—and have experienced increased recognition, acceptance and sales in these industries.

Four major original equipment manufacturers (OEMs) of gas turbines had previously approved and signed agreements for further development and sales of GTE’s patented technology for use on their engines. Most recently, compressor cleaning system installations have been finalized and more operators have implemented the solution.

Several products are expected to be up over 100% compared to Q1 2009 ($1.1M) for GTE’s Combustion services, reflecting its newly launched aftermarket solutions and rapidly growing acceptance by end customers in the Energy market. Furthermore, since the addition of the Turbine Services platform in July 2009, customer acceptance has been very high, as demonstrated by the recent announcement of a three-year agreement with Entegra Power Group.

GTE - Gas Turbine Efficiency

GTE is reporting an increase in expected revenue for the first quarter of 2010, an improvement supported by several operating units.

Aviation products have also enjoyed success with a recently announced $1.6M order from Pratt & Whitney, which demonstrates strengthening demand for this service, supported by energy efficiency and life cycle cost benefits and expectations to see further benefit from higher fuel prices.

“We are pleased to report generally stronger market conditions across several aftermarket sectors,” said Steven Zwolinski, Chief Executive Officer at GTE. “We are now in a much stronger position with our core product lines, with validated performance data in compressor cleaning as well as rapidly expanding customer acceptance of recently launched combustion products and turbine services platforms. “

The Q1 2010 expected revenue increase is on top of the strong first half 2009 performance reported in September. Overall, 2009 was a very challenging global energy market, in which GTE had top line growth in line with market expectations.

As the energy industry continues to conserve cash and investment spend and adjusts to demand profiles, GTE views continues to see 2010 as challenging. That said, GTE is better positioned to grow in such an environment with newly launched product and service offerings targeted at the more ‘recession resistant’ energy aftermarket segment.

GTE has been featured in several prominent power generation publications and conferences generating interest and additional proposals for new sales. Notably, in February 2010, GTE was featured at the 501F Gas Turbine Users Group Annual Conference in Orlando, FL, where Louisiana-based power producer Cleco Evangeline presented a case study on GTE’s compressor water wash systems as an optimal solution for operational improvements. The data presented offered an average percent power benefit of 1.18 percent and motivating an average increase in energy efficiency of 0.42 percent which translates to rapid return on investment.

A case study on the compressor water wash system is available for download from GTE’s website at http://www.gtefficiency.com/case_studies.asp.

“Long term economic and environmental factors appear to be strengthening across all sectors as customers place more value on fuel efficiency, asset output/performance and life cycle costs,” Zwolinski added. “GTE continues to invest in the solutions that customers require. These short term results are an early validation of that strategy.”

Full year 2009 results are expected to be announced on April 23, 2010 and will be available on the company’s website at http://www.gtefficiency.com.

Gas Turbine Efficiency’s South Carolina Office Awarded Quality Management System Certification

January 20, 2010

GTE office locations in the U.S. and Europe now hold ISO 9001:2008 accreditation

DUNCAN, South Carolina – Gas Turbine Efficiency plc (AIM: GTE), a leader in energy services and aviation products is announcing that the International Organization for Standardization (ISO) has awarded the company the ISO 9001:2008 certification for its Fuels and Combustion Facility located in Duncan, SC.

With the ISO 9001:2008 certification, GTE validates meeting international requirements for its total quality management (TQM) systems, which are particularly important to engineering and technology companies. GTE’s commitment to excellence uses the globally implemented standard outlined by ISO to provide assurance about the company’s ability to satisfy quality requirements and to enhance customer satisfaction in supplier-customer relationships.

GTE’s South Carolina office is its third ISO 9001:2008 certified location, along with the Orlando, FL and Järfälla, Sweden facilities. The ISO standards drive business operations in areas such as order entry, design control, material procurement, document control, process control and training, among many more competencies and departments.

“GTE is a world-class engineering company and the ISO accreditation certifies our brand as a symbol of quality,” said Steven Zwolinski, Chief Executive Officer at GTE. “This is a great accomplishment for our team as quality management is the foundation of our continued customer satisfaction.”

In order to qualify to become an ISO 9001:2008 company, an organization must demonstrate its ability to consistently provide products that meet customer and applicable statutory and regulatory requirements. Since ISO requires self policing and compliance, the organization must aim to enhance customer satisfaction through the effective application of the system, including processes for continual improvement of the system.

“We are dedicated to showing our development, implementation and commitment to quality,” said Joe Palmer, Manager for GTE’s Fuels and Combustion Facility, whose staff led the certification effort. “The nine-month certification process was well worth our commitment and will strengthen our business relationships.”

With the ISO certification, GTE effectively enhances its credentials as a leader in the industries it serves, creating a point of reference for customer trust and business growth in the international marketplace.

Gas Turbine Efficiency Expands Products and Services to Serve the GE Frame 7EA Turbine Operating Community

November 2, 2009

GTE announces the availability of new and existing products for the GE Frame 7EA gas turbine user community in the Energy Industry

(ORLANDO, FL) — Gas Turbine Efficiency plc (AIM: GTE), a leader in energy and aviation products and services, is announcing the expansion of its products and services lineup to meet the needs of the GE Frame 7EA users community, offering significant operational benefits and return for operators who have invested in this widely-used gas turbine.

GTE serves power plant operators by delivering proven solutions for maintenance and optimization in gas-only and dual-fuel gas turbine systems. The expanded products and services include new hardware and consumables for 7EA users worldwide.

GTE 7EA Introduces Products and Services

GTE announces the availability of new and existing products for the GE Frame 7EA gas turbine user community in the Energy Industry.

“We are committed to support our Energy Services clients in maintaining operational excellence for their investment,” says Steven Zwolinski, Chief Executive Officer at GTE. “Following on this commitment, GTE offers a number of options to help 7EA operators achieve their performance goals using products and services designed to keep their gas turbines in optimal operating condition.”

There are currently over 850 GE Frame 7EA gas turbines in use worldwide and their operators’ need to meet operational and maintenance goals can be best served by GTE’s products and services—including its:

* DLN-1 combustion system repairs and spares

* Turbine Optimization

* Compressor Water Wash Systems

* Turbine Outage Services, the company’s most recent addition to the lineup

In the last two years GTE has developed DLN-1 repair processes and applied the processes to return combustion systems to original performance. Based on the success of this work and customer demand, GTE has now developed replacement DLN-1 combustion components for the 7EA.   The equipment is currently available for application and will be reviewed with the 7EA User Community at the User Group meeting in Miami, FL. DLN-1 combustion components are also now available for the 6B and 9E users as well.

In addition to the repair and new equipment manufacturing for DLN-1 combustion systems, GTE has recently introduced its ECOMAX™ system to provide fully automated continuous tuning to enhance emission compliance, extend service life and optimize plant performance.

The benefit of using GTE’s family of services and products for 7EA increases when users combine them in their maintenance efforts,” says Thomas Wagner, Chief Technology Officer at GTE. “Our experience in the Energy market allows our business groups to optimize their performance output or upgrade the installation for DLN, ECOMAX™ or Water Wash Product lines.”

GTE recognizes that the Energy Industry will be increasingly shaped by the combination of rapidly escalating fuel costs, fuel source variation, environmental regulations, and energy demand. This combination creates challenges for the large global installed base of assets as they must adapt to alternate fuels, cyclic operation, and tougher emissions targets—all with a potentially significant impact on their financial commitment to operating 7EA gas turbines.

GTE will be exhibiting and hosting the reception dinner in the Cove Ballroom at the 7EA User Group Meeting on November 4-7, 2009 in Miami, FL.

GTE will also exhibit at Power Gen International 2009, the world’s largest Energy Industry convention in on December 8-10, 2009 in Las Vegas, NV.
